OLD SHAWNEETOWN, Ill. — Still dealing with cleanup efforts from massive flooding from the Ohio River this spring, emergency workers from Old Shawneetown were called out Sunday to battle a major warehouse fire.
At about 11 a.m. Sunday, fire broke out at the IMA Fertilizer Company in Old Shawneetown. Because flames were spreading quickly through the warehouse facility, officials with the Old Shawneetown Fire Department called for assistance from the neighboring Ridgway, Equality, New Haven and Omaha fire departments.
No one was injured battling the fire, which was tapped out around 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Because of high heat conditions, workers with the Gallatin County EMS were called to assist firefighters.
The structure was considered a total loss.
